A 17-year-old girl who was in a coma following a snowmobile accident in Waukesha County has died, sources say.

The girl was riding on the back of a snowmobile when the driver lost control, throwing her from the vehicle. She was in a coma for three days, and passed away on Saturday.

Police say that neither she nor the driver were wearing helmets as they were driving across iced-over Phantom Lake. The driver lost control as he swerved to avoid hitting a car which was driving on the lake.
