Officials are asking the public to remember car safety rules after two runaway car incidents this week. In the past week, both a toddler and a dog drove away in vehicles left unattended. Authorities say these things are easily preventable.
Officials say that running vehicles should never be left unattended, especially if someone is inside the vehicle, and leaving anyone in a vehicle can be dangerous as temperatures climb. They also said an idling vehicle is an easy target for theft. Crashes and other accidents in these situations happen more frequently than people suppose, authorities said.
