Young driver sentenced for causing crash that killed three teens

A Fond du Lac County judge sentenced a 19 year-old woman to one year in county jail this week after her excessive speeding caused a serious crash that killed her three passengers. She pleaded no contest to three counts of negligent vehicular homicide.

Last winter, the teenager and her friends were traveling on Beechnut Drive when her SUV reached 108 mph. She lost control and flipped the vehicle several times, the Green Bay Press Gazette reports. The driver later said she was peer pressured into speeding.

The woman will start her sentence in six months and has the choice of which county she wants to serve in. The judge also sentenced her to six years probation, to which she will be subjected to random drug testing and is prohibited from bars.
