Honda investigating malfunctioning airbags

Posted on October 26th, 2011 No Comments

Honda is currently investigating a case in which a man’s side airbags deployed for no apparent reason. This man’s case is just one of nearly a dozen listed on the federal website safecar.gov involving 2008 Honda Accords.

The most recent account involved a 26 year-old man who was driving on Interstate 85 in Georgia. His side airbags suddenly exploded, obscuring most of his view and causing him to lose his hearing for most of the day. He was able to pull over safely but found no signs of side impact.

Honda and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration do not plan on issuing a recall for this airbag malfunction, stating that they have not been able to find a common connection between the incidents reported.
