Bicyclist Killed in Bike and Truck Accident

Friday morning an 18-year-old woman harmed in a horrific truck accident in Lake Delton. According to the Baraboo News Republic, the woman was, “from outside the United States [and] was working in the Dells for the summer.” The accident took place on Wisconsin Dells Parkway at East Adams Street,

The News Republic reports, “the vehicle involved in the collision was a Waste Management truck that was making a turn from East Adams Street onto the Parkway when it was struck on the right side by a bicycle that was being legally ridden on the sidewalk.” The truck dragged bike and cyclist until it realized what had happened. The driver then stopped the truck and tried to help.

The woman was apparently taken by ambulance to the airport for a life flight to the hospital, but the doctor at the airport pronounced her dead.

Train hits semi, injures 2

Two men were taken to Black River Memorial Hospital after a train hit a semi tractor-trailer in Jackson County, Wis., authorities said. Police said the train dragged the semi about 100 yards down the tracks. The 41-year-old man was driving the 18-wheeler across the tracks when it was hit by the train, authorities said, which was going about 25 miles per hour.

The semi driver and the train’s engineer were both treated and released from the hospital, authorities said. It took about eight hours for crews to clean up the crash, authorities said.
