Former Wisconsin Senator Injured While Riding Motorcycle

A former Wisconsin senator and avid motorcycle rider, Dave Zien, was recently seriously injured in an accident in Florida.

The accident occurred on March 13, 2011, when Zien was riding his motorcycle down Florida’s I-10 highway. An SUV in front of Zien lost control while trying to change lanes. It flipped over, causing Zien to crash into it with his motorcycle. He was then rushed to a local hospital and was treated for a broken hip and mangled leg.

While in office, Zien rallied against laws forcing motorcyclists to wear helmets. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He is currently still recovering from his injuries, and they are said to be non-life-threatening.
