Wisconsin Passes Bill to Lower Auto Insurance Minimums

The Assembly in Wisconsin has recently passed a bill that will lower the required auto liability coverage minimums that drivers must purchase in case of an accident.

Laws had been passed in 2009 that raised the minimum coverage to $100,000 for those who are injured and $15,000 for vehicle damage. Many Wisconsin drivers found these amounts to be extreme and difficult to pay. The new bill will lower the minimums to $50,000 for people injured and $10,000 for damages to vehicles.

While these lower liability coverage minimums will lower rates for insurance and save drivers money, some are worried that these minimums are too low to cover all costs incurred during an accident and will end up making drivers pay more in the long run.
