Wisconsin develops new safety program

Wisconsin’s Department of Transportation has developed a new high-tech, motorcycle safety program aimed to lower motorcycle-related fatalities. THE REF, Transportable High-End Rider Education Facility, was introduced last August. It includes interactive tests, motorcycle demos, and simulators to help new and experienced riders learn how to avoid accidents.

The Department of Transportation hopes THE REF will raise awareness about motorcycle safety techniques and make riders more cautious. Nearly 80% of motorcyclist have never taken any kind of training course and experts hope that this new program will encourage riders to think more about their safety. THE REF will travel to nearly 60 cities this year to raise awareness.
