Man’s fifth DWI leads to felony charge

A 46 year-old man is facing a felony DWI conviction after he was charged with his fifth DWI. The man got behind the wheel after he refused to get in a SafeRide car the bar called to take him home. Despite employees’ efforts, the man left the bar and sped down Highway 11. Witnesses say someone tried to follow him, but was unable to keep up with the driver.

A few minutes later, the man ran a red light and rear-ended a small dump truck. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time, and the impact ejected him from his SUV. The man is currently in critical condition at the hospital.
