Driver responsible for accident pleads guilty

A 30 year-old man has plead guilty to two felony charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and intoxicated vehicular homicide after he collided with a pickup truck this summer.

The man said he had been drinking whiskey and beer since noon and consumed approximately eight pitchers of beer at a bar before the accident. Law enforcement says his blood alcohol content was more than three times over the legal limit at 0.30. A passenger in the pickup truck died of his injuries a few days after the accident; the 23 year-old man was thrown from the truck on impact.

Prosecutors have suggested to the judge that the man should receive 30 years in prison with ten years suspended for his guilty plea.
