Sheboygan teen killed in accident

A Sheboygan teenager walking to school this morning was killed in a pedestrian accident when he was struck by a leaf collection truck.

The 18 year-old man was crossing North Sixth Street near New York Avenue when a Department of Public Works truck hit him just before 9:00. Paramedics say he was unresponsive when they arrived.

The Sheboygan Police Department confirmed his death an hour later after his arrival at theAurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. He suffered serious head and internal injuries.

No other cars or objects were on the street at the time of the accident that would have obstructed the teenager or the driver’s view. Sheboygan police and the Wisconsin State Patrol will conduct a crash reconstruction.

Our deepest sympathies are with the friends and family of the young victim.
