Snowmobile accident kills one

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office believes drinking and speeding were major factors in a St. Charles, Minnesota man’s death last week after he was thrown from his snowmobile while riding in Milton Township.

The 28 year-old man was killed when he collided with a cable strung between two fence posts. Emergency crews said that the man was unresponsive by the time they arrived. He was transported to Winona Community Memorial Hospital where he later died.

A 38 year-old friend who was snowmobiling with him was not hurt. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is currently investigating the fatal accident.

Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim.
