Wrong-way driver causes accident, injures one

A 27 year-old Baldwin man caused an accident that injured one person after he drove the wrong way on Interstate 94.

Early Saturday morning, St. Criox County authorities received reports of a driver traveling eastbound in westbound lanes near Hammond. After the St. Croix County Sheriff’s deputies and Hammond police officers failed to stop the driver, officers put down tire deflation devices.

However, the fleeing driver was only stopped after he crashed into another vehicle. The 41 year-old Bloomington, Minnesota driver in the other car suffered non life-threatening injuries. Police arrested the wrong-way driver and charged him with reckless driving, endangering safety, fleeing from police, eluding causing bodily harm, driving the wrong way, and driving without a valid license.
