This month is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, a new public awareness campaign by the U.S. Department of Transportation to promote cellphone-free driving practices.

Wisconsin has already passed a law banning cellphone use for all drivers, and a new law will go into effect on November 1st that will prohibit new drivers from using handheld and hands-free cellphone devices. Other states have passed laws that ban cellphone use in school and construction zones.

A new federal law went into effect in January that banned handheld cellphone use for all commercial truck, bus, and other fleet drivers. Violators could be fined up to $2,750 per offense.

If you or someone you love has been injured by a distracted driver, contact the reckless driving lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. by calling 800-242-2874.
