Deputy sued after striking moped

A man who was injured on his moped last October after a deputy hit him with his squad car has filed a lawsuit against the deputy, Wood County, the Sheriff’s Department, and their insurance companies for the accident.

According to the Nekoosa Police Department’s accident report, the 38 year-old Wisconsin Rapids man was making a left turn when the deputy, who was looking down at his phone, hit him. The impact threw him from his moped and onto the hood of the car.

The man is seeking compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of income, and possible permanent disability. No dollar amount was given.
