Local police arrest hit-and-run driver

Local authorities have arrested a 29 year-old Milwaukee man after he struck a woman and her service dog and then fled the scene. The accident occurred at the intersection of Broadway and N. Barstow Street last Thursday.

The women suffered a broken foot in the accident, and her golden retriever service dog was killed. She says she was walking at the crosswalk when an SUV drove through the intersection and hit them.

Police have charged him with felony hit-and-run causing bodily injury, driving without insurance, and failing to yield the right of way. The Journal Sentinel reports that he admitted to authorities he was involved in the accident but was not aware he hit a dog.
