Woman killed after possibly being hit by two cars

Deputies from the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department believe that a second vehicle figured in the fatal accident on Interstate 43 that took place Saturday, March 2. In the accident, a woman was killed as she tried to cross the highway.

Police gathered from their initial investigation of the crime scene that 54-year-old Denise Merkel was struck by a passing vehicle as she tried to go to the other side of the street at Interstate 43 near Racine Avenue in New Berlin at around 5:30 a.m. to give aid to a friend who had run out of fuel.

However, upon closer inspection of the details surrounding the pedestrian accident, they reached the conclusion that a second vehicle hit Merkel as she was in the middle of the road.

The tragic and sudden death of a loved one often leaves family members and friends grieving, and the thoughts of our team at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. are with those affected by this tragedy.
