Third child dies due to western Wisconsin car accident

Five-year-old Laynie Jo Amos, a passenger in a recent accident that occurred in western Wisconsin, died on Saturday, December 14 due to the injuries she sustained in the accident two days prior.

Her two cousins, identified as 11-year-old Centuria resident Lydia Milberg and her five-year-old sister Clara, daughters of Kati Milberg Pavek and Michael Pavek of Prescott, died the day of the crash. Lydia died at the scene of the accident on Highway 35 near 468th Street in Prescott, and Clara was declared dead at River Falls Hospital after being sent there to receive medical attention.

Thirty-two-year-old Kari Jo Milberg, the driver of the SUV, and her three-year-old son, Easton, are recovering from their serious injuries. Kari Jo, who was in critical condition as of the 14th at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, is Lydia’s mother.

The accident happened at around 3:40 p.m. on Highway 35 in Oak Grove Township, east of Hastings, when an SUV and a truck collided, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office. Officers are investigating whether road conditions played a role in the accident.
