A single-vehicle accident in Hudson resulted in the death of both car occupants, WQOW reported on October 5.

The driver and the passenger were both 22-year-old make residents of Hudson, Wisconsin. The vehicle was a 1996 Volkswagen Golf two-door hatchback. The unnamed driver was traveling north on USH 12 past Brakke Drive at around 2:50 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of his vehicle.

According to preliminary investigations, the vehicle slammed into a traffic sign and then a utility post, breaking it into half, before finally falling into an east ditch. Both of the young men were confirmed dead at the scene of the accident by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Firefighters from the Hudson Fire and Rescue and the St. Croix emergency medical services assisted in responding to the crash.
