1 dead, 1 hurt in Town of Paris two-vehicle accident

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department in Wisconsin has reported that a two-vehicle accident at around 8 p.m. on Friday, March 25 in the town of Paris has resulted in the death of one person.

According to preliminary investigations, 27-year-old Hendrick, Iowa resident Ashley Bauer was heading north on Highway 151 in a white 2012 Dodge Ram truck pulling a horse trailer. At the intersection of Highway 151 and Clay Hollow Road, she crashed into the driver’s side of a black Volkswagen Jetta driven by 77-year-old Harrisburg, Oregon resident James Smucker. Orpha Smucker, a 66-year-old Harrisburg resident, was his passenger at the time of the crash.

James Smucker was declared dead at the scene of the accident following the crash, a report from the sheriff’s office stated. It was also stated that Orpha Smucker was taken to the Southwest Health Center in Platteville and later airlifted via Med Flight to Madison. Bauer and her two horses did not sustain any injuries.
