Family among victims in fatal Walworth County three-vehicle collision

A family that was on their way to a relative’s wedding in Sharon was killed, along with at least one other person, during a three-vehicle collision that occurred at Town Hall Road and Highway K in the Town of Sharon on Saturday, May 28.

The victims were identified as 26-year-old Carlos Venegas, his 27-year-old wife Maria Flores, and his two-year-old son, Carlos. The Venegas’ six-year-old daughter, Giselle, survived and was transported to the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee where she was in stable condition as of last Monday, May 30. Sharon Fire and Rescue Chief Bruce VanderVeen said that the accident’s scene was the worst he has responded to during his 30 years in the profession. Relatives of the victims created a GoFundMe account for the family’s medical expenses.

Reverend Angel Anaya, pastor at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Delavan, said a funeral Mass would be conducted for the family on Friday, June 3.
